Amador Valley Mock Trial Advances to Finals

Amador Valley High School's Mock Trial team met Piedmont High School's team in the Alameda County Semifinal competition round in the Rene C. Davidson Courthouse last night. I am happy to announce that after 8 years of losing to Piedmont High School, Amador defeated Piedmont's team with a score of 347 to 323. This marks the first time in almost 8 years that the Piedmont team will not advance to the final round of competition, and pits Amador's Prosecution team against Bishop O'Dowd High School's Defense team.

Students who competed in the Defense trial at last night's round were:
Pretrial Attorney: Linyan Tian (a score of PERFECT 5's, and she is a last minute fill in!)
Trial Attorneys: Brian Sherman(PERFECT 5's in Closing Agrement)
Marie McCoy-Thompson
Sean O'Connell
Witnesses: Alice Wang (another last minute fill-in!)
Nikita Mehandru
Rahael Borchers
William Chen
Bailiff: Ryuka Ko

If you have these students in any of your classes, please congratulate them on a job well done! Mock Trial continues its undefeated season with the Final Round of competition on Thursday night at 6pm in the Rene C. Davidson Courthouse. This is a large courtroom, and can accommodate plenty of spectators. This year's trial is a murder trial, so it's bound to be exciting and intriguing. Students on the Prosecution team will be competing, and the line-up is as follows:
Pre-Trial Attorney: Matthias Mc-Coy Thompson
Trial Attorneys: Tanay Jaeel
Rishi Mukhopadhyay
Vivienne Chen
Witnesses: Dev Rishi
Alice Wang
Emily Truax
Shreya Gupta
Courtrom Clerk: Janice Mao

If you'd like to attend to support the team, the Courthouse is only 2 blocks from the Lake Merritt BART station. I know that the team would feel honored to have any supporters attend. Again, congratulations to the Mock Trial Team, and good luck!
